Get ready to see the Moon Person on full display.
After all, the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards is airing live Sept. 11 from the UBS Arena in New York, with Megan Thee Stallion taking the stage as the night’s host.
From musical performances to iconic winners and infamous pop culture moments, the award show will surely leave you speechless. The VMAs will see artists across genres earning ovations for their albums, music videos and choreography.
Taylor Swift packed a punch as the leader in nominations with 12 nods, including eight for her and Post Malone’s song “Fortnight,” as well as Best Pop and Artist of the Year. If she wins Video of the Year, she’ll also be the first artist to earn the honor in the category three consecutive times.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande earned seven nominations with her album eternal sunshine and is tied with Sabrina Carpenter—nominated for the first time at the VMAs—and Megan Thee Stallion. Chappell Roan is also hot to go for the show with her nominations in the Best New Artist and MTV Push Performance of the Year categories.
And please, please, please don’t worry because major celebs are set to perform, too. Shawn Mendes, Lenny Kravitz and more are taking the stage. Katy Perry, who will be honored with the MTV Video Vanguard Award, is also performing a medley of her biggest hits. Along with hosting, Megan is closing out this Hot Girl Summer with her own number.

When are the 2024 MTV VMA Awards?
The 2024 MTV VMA Awards will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. ET live from the UBS Arena in New York.
In observance of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, MTV is supporting the nonprofits 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.
How can I watch the 2024 MTV VMA Awards?
The ceremony will air live on Sept. 11 on MTV and all Paramount channels, including BET, BET Her, CMT, CC, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
In addition, the network has partnered with TelevisaUnivision to host a simultaneous broadcast on Univision.
What time is the 2024 MTV VMA Awards?
The award show begins at 8 p.m. ET live from New York. An "encore" re-run will begin at 11 p.m. ET.
Who is hosting the 2024 VMAs?
Megan Thee Stallion is taking on the role, along with being one of the night’s most anticipated performers.
"Hotties not Onlyyyy am I your lovely host for the evening at the 2024 @vmas," the rapper gushed on Instagram. "IM ALSOOO PERFORMINGGGG."
Who else is performing at the 2024 VMAs?
Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, Halsey, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Anitta, Karol G and LL Cool J are among the other artists to perform during the MTV show. Who else is nominated at the 2024 VMAs?
Among the heaviest hitters are Taylor Swift with 12—the most—and Post Malone with 11. Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion and Sabrina Carpenter are heading into the ceremony with seven nods each, while SZA has six. Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims and LISA have four.
